MacLeod, Erin and Joshua Chamberlain. 2016. “Sweet Reggae Music Pon di Attack: A History of Soundclash.” Red Bull Music Academy.
Canadian author Eric MacLeod and American co-author Joshua Chamberlain explain how the use of dubplates and live performance overlapped beginning in the 1980s, and one of the first recorded international world sound clashes took place in London in 1993. A video clip of the 1993 ‘World Sound Clash’ is included in the article and they explain how regions beyond where the Jamaican diaspora can be found also developed their respective soundclash culture, namely countries like Italy, Japan, and Germany.
