EN: Researcher, reggae historian, and journalist David Katz produced this radio documentary,  originally broadcasted on Public Radio Internationa in 2019. The podcast begins with an encompassing characterization of the reggae music phenomenon in Maranhão. Katz also interviews key figures of the local scene, such as Riba Macedo, the first radiola owner to play reggae music regularly; Natty Naifson, owner of the biggest “cultural” radiola; and Pinto Itamaraty, who runs the most financially sucessful radiola. Among the interviews, we can listen to Jamaican songs cherished by the population of this Brazilian state, by artists such as Jacob Miller, Larry Marshall, and local stars like Fauzi Beydoun from Tribo de Jah band and Celia Sampaio.
