We are excited to announce a unique and immersive evening of film screenings, celebrating the diverse world of sound system cultures from around the globe. Join us on December 5th, 2025, at Cinéma Eldorado in Dijon for a one-of-a-kind event showcasing five exclusive SST documentaries:
These films reveal the fascinating ways in which communities use their DIY sound systems as tools of cultural, spiritual, and political expression. Whether it’s to unite people, dance, or amplify the voices of marginalised communities and social movements, sound systems become powerful vehicles for advocacy and empowerment.
The event is organised by Skanky Yard association and Dubatriation sound system as part of the Protect the Dub program, which has been bringing sound system culture in various forms to Dijon for over 10 years now, with a consistent focus on community building, solidarity and raising funds for various social projects.
Dr Brian D’Aquino, Senior Research Assistant for the Sonic Street Technologies project and founder of the Bababoom Hi-Fi label and sound system, will be representing SST in an open discussion at the end of the screenings, sharing his insights into the cultural impact of sound systems from both a practitioner and researcher perspective.
