The project team gives thanks for Charlotte Ayton-George (6 May 1983 – 23 April 2022) and her invaluable work on the project. Charlotte was our Research Project Manager, but also an amateur writer and psychology enthusiast who called both London and Kingston Jamaica home. On the project Charlotte was always hard working and full of enthusiasm. She had a deep understanding of the value of our research. We miss her very much.  

Charlotte joined SST in May 2021. Prior to this she had worked in research project management for the past 10 years, with an emphasis on the financial management of projects. Her experience has included substantial multi-project management in research units and also a clinical trials unit (CTU) based within the University of London. These projects were wide-ranging, focussing on disability and eye health research; operational research; women’s health and mental health research, amongst other areas.  As a result, she had developed a keen interest in academic research and looks forward to focussing her skills on the more concentrated area of sonic street technologies – an area of research that ties in with her interests and culture. As Charlotte put it: “My main aim is to keep the project on track. The second is to curate a great soundtrack to accompany it!” Charlotte was hoping to expand on her love for reggae music and sound systems and discover more about other sonic street technologies.
